Carnival

GAMES AND RIDES

Each year in June, the Amissville Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department has its annual fundraising carnival from Wednesday to Saturday. People come to test their grit on the Bullet and Sling Shot and enjoy the Merry-Go-Round and other more tame rides.  There are prizes for games of chance and games of skill, and the ever-popular Bingo pavilion is filled with patrons.

FOOD

For four nights locals dine at the carnival— enjoying burgers, dogs, bar-b-que, french fries and box dinners featuring chicken.  Candied apples, funnel cakes and homemade desserts are the icing on the cake.

PARADE

The Fire Parade is Thursday night.  Fire & Rescue Departments from miles around show off their units in the annual parade, sharing the stage with baton twirlers, marching bands, clowns, and even a tractor or two.  Kids stay up late, getting the most from the ‘ride all night’ wrist bands, then fall exhausted into bed to rest up for the next night’s excitement.
