The Dark Horse Irish Pub, commonly known as “An Capall Dorcha,” is a distinctive and endearing place situated in the village of Flint Hill. The building, formerly the Griffin Tavern, has a lengthy and interesting history that dates back to the 1850s. The structure was once the Bradford family’s home and then served as the community’s local shop before becoming a pub.

The sole Irish pub in Rappahannock County, Virginia, now The Dark Horse Irish Pub, which has given this old structure new life. The interior of the bar has traditional Irish furnishings and warm wood finishes that will instantly transport visitors to the Emerald Isle.

The Meadows at Castleton

Castleton is one of the oldest continuously operating farms in Rappahannock County. It’s 500 acres is home to a beautiful venue for weddings and other special events, lodging in eleven beautiful guest houses, intimate cottages, and large family homes, and a state-of-the-art conference center for corporate retreats.

The grounds include a five-mile paved footpath perfect for walking or jogging, a working animal farm and menagerie of exotic animals, paddle boats, kayaks and canoes for use on our ponds, basketball, foosball, table tennis, and three outdoor tennis courts.

Upon advanced request, we can make arrangements for golf carts, chauffeurs, babysitters, and private chefs.

All of our wedding packages include wedding venue coordinators, on-site ceremony rehearsal, bridal cottage exclusively yours for the day, four professional hair and makeup stations, full-length mirrors and dressing platform, and a breathtaking private ceremony site of your choice. There are many more optional amenities available as well.

When you choose to stay or host your event at the Meadows at Castleton, you become part of a rich history that spans nearly 200 years. The original Manor House was built by J.F. Browning in the early 19th century. During the Civil War, it served as a hospital, caring for soldiers from both the Union and Confederate armies and changing hands over twenty times.
